Mazinger is one of the greats of classic mecha anime, and is a member of the subgroup, "super robot" anime. It was created by Go Nagai, and produced by Dynamic Productions.
This watchguide will be a bit different, since I am by no means an expert on this series. If you want lots of tidbits and cool facts about the series, I sincerely recommend you check out the wiki made by dedicated and knowledgeable people, here. What I'll try to do instead is provide a single page that arranges the series in an easy-to-follow fashion, so readers can easily track what they need to do next.
Dynamic Productions has many crossovers between their popular series, like Mazinger, Getter Robo, and Devilman. However, these crossovers are not necessarily considered canon in their respective universes.
With that, let's get started!
Where To Start
First off, Mazinger has a lot of different spin-offs and timelines. With that in mind, I will first list the original trilogy of Mazinger, which would be a good starting place. It goes as follows:
Mazinger Z -> Great Mazinger -> Grendizer
In 2017, there was a new movie, called Mazinger Z: Infinity, which is a sequel to Great Mazinger, but does not acknowledge Grendizer. So, another way of watching is:
Mazinger Z -> Great Mazinger -> Mazinger Z: Infinity
Most of the series outside of these three are spinoffs, retellings, or adaptations of their manga or anime. One such series of retellings is those of Gosaku Ota. The Ota series is a series of manga by the same names as the original anime (Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer), with a new twist.
Mazinger Z Variations
In this section, I'll list the series that are based on or are retellings of Mazinger Z. As such, they are not a part of the original timeline, and are otherwise unrelated.
God Mazinger
Mazinger U.S.A.
MazinSaga
Z Mazinger
Mazinkaiser, which has its own spinoff, Mazinkaiser SKL
Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact
Shin Mazinger ZERO -> Shin Mazinger ZERO vs. Great General of Darkness
Mazinger Z Alter Ignition
Grendizer Giga is a retelling of Grendizer.
On top of all of those, there are also Mazinger Angels and the sequel Mazinger Angles Z.
Crossovers
As is common with Dynamic Productions, there are a good number of crossovers featuring other properties they have produced, and sometimes entirely unrelated franchises. It's worth noting that these are not canon in the universes of their respective anime. The crossovers that Mazinger Z is involved in are: Mazinger Z vs Getter Robo
Mazinger Z vs Shin Getter Robo
Mazinger Z vs Devilman
Mazinger Z vs Transformers
Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo, and its sequel, Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo G: Kuchu Daigekitotsu
Grendizer, Getter Robo G, Great Mazinger: Kessen! Daikaiju
Dynamic Heroes
CB Chara Go Nagai World
Super Robot Retsuden
There is also one large overarching crossover that involves many franchises, Super Robot Wars, which Mazinger Z has been included in on multiple occasions. There is a manga based off this by the same name.
